Bentley's Oyster Bar & Grill presents Plymouth Gin's Botanical Seas Garden this Summer
(Monday 13th May, 2019) Bentley’s Oyster Bar & Grill is reinventing its terrace this summer with Plymouth Gin to create an urban oasis just moments from busy Piccadilly Circus. From June to September, it will be turned into a botanical garden decorated with lemon trees and coastal flowers, as well as a striking sculpture welcoming guests on arrival. Bentley’s is also introducing more than 15 new Gin-based cocktails and paired dishes for diners to indulge in. On a hot summer day, the shopping masses will be able to take a breather from their spree, sit down at the terrace and be immediately transported to a green space surrounded by scents of fresh flowers.
Both Bentley’s and Plymouth Gin have had a long relation with the sea, with one serving wild oysters and fresh seafood for more than a hundred years while another distilling premium Gin next to the Plymouth port for centuries. It is only right that the two collaborate to recreate a reviving coastal scene for the city of London.
The bar team in Bentley’s worked with premium and fine Gin distilled by Plymouth Gin to create the whole new Gin-based cocktail menu, which includes Punches, Spritzes, Martinis and Gin classics.
The highlight of the menu is Rock Pool (£16) paired with Bentley’s signature Seashore Platter, filled with fresh oysters, mussels, cockles, whelks, clams and crevettes sourced from the British Isles.
The Punches to Share (£46 each) are perfect for a small group of friends, and will be served in a classic litre Gin bottle to be enjoyed among four people. Small plates such as Bentley’s famous Crispy Squid and Octopus and Chorizo have been expertly matched and are perfect sharing options. The Botanical Sea Garden will also be home to the notorious ‘Glug Jug’, a quirky fish vessel used by the navy since the 19th Century. It has become an iconic part of the Plymouth Gin drinking experience. In it the Seafarers Punch (£14) is served, using Plymouth Gin, Vermouth, blackberry, raspberry, lime and bitters.
