Bentley’s Oyster Bar & Grill Wins Food & Travel Magazine 2016 – ‘Timeless Classic’ Award

Bentley’s Oyster Bar and Grill has won ‘Timeless Classic’ in this year’s Food and Travel Awards. The shortlist was compiled after thousands of Food and Travel readers voted for their favourite restaurants, hotels and chefs over the past few months. The Awards were held last night at The Royal Automobile Club

‘This award is great news’ says Richard Corrigan, ‘I’ve never tried to do anything else but provide great food and an atmosphere filled with spirit, very much created by our wonderful and loyal staff, like our Master Shucker Helio who has been with us for over a decade now. If I’m going to do something, I do it properly and want to bring out the best of Mother Nature’s bounty. So for Bentley’s, farmed fish was out of the question; big cut price suppliers have never played a part in my restaurants both at Bentley’s and at Corrigan’s Mayfair, small day boats, independent and family businesses have always been a priority. I’m a happy man now; I’ve never chased stars or set my sights on hugely ambitious projects, just because what I want to do, I want to do well, no short cuts. Bentley’s represents the best of fish, Corrigan’s Mayfair the best of meat and game; and now I have Virginia Park Lodge in County Cavan, Ireland, a beautiful 18th century 100 acre estate which supplies bountiful fruit, vegetables and herbs for my restaurants. The perfect triangle for me is complete, besides something new at Corrigan’s Mayfair coming soon….’
